What is swap space?
Swap is disk space the system can use as overflow when it runs short of memory. It can be a partition or a file.
Why it matters when you use a bootable USB drive
A small swap area gives older computers a safety net, and hibernation needs swap at least as large as your RAM. Installers usually offer to create it for you.
